OLC Pole Detect
NovaLight
The OLC Pole Detect is a light controller. It is straightforward to install on public lighting poles thanks to its magnetic attachment for steel poles or thanks to a ligature. It is connected through the hatch of the mast and can perform phase control in on/off mode. You can dim the light intensity when connecting the OLC Pole Detect to the DALI or 1-10V bus (control interface to be specified when ordering).
The OLC Pole Detect comprises three infrared detectors. Thanks to those detectors, you can create light paths. You can vary the intensity of a light fixture and its neighbors when movement is detected. In addition to communicating with its neighbors, the controller connects to remote management software via a wireless network.
In short
Features
Streetlight control
The controller communicates with the luminaire ballast via a 1-10V or DALI interface (to be specified when ordering). While the 1-10V only allows light intensity reduction, the DALI interface offers additional functions such as failure detection by the ballast.
Streetlight switching
You can switch on the controller either by using a traditional centralized remote control or thanks to a constant power supply. In the first case, the controller switches on simultaneously as the luminaire; it then starts the application of the configured dimming profiles. The astronomical clock built into the controller plays a central role in the second case. This clock computes the sunset, and sunrise times, according to the streetlight coordinates and the date. On this astronomical basis, you also can incorporate sunset and sunrise offsets depending on the observations made in the field.
Dimming
Light intensity reduction profiles can be configured easily on the remote management software and are synchronized to the controller via the wireless network.
Energy measurements
The integrated energy meter enables measurements of energy consumption and savings. In addition, instantaneous measurements can be retrieved on request: frequency, voltage, current, power, and power factor. You can store the measurements in remote management software for analysis.
Fault detection
The luminaire controller continuously monitors electrical parameters, luminaire operating status, configuration, or communication faults. These faults are detected either directly by the luminaire controller or by the luminaire drivers (be careful, the use of DALI control mode is required).
Power control
The controller is equipped with a power relay and can thus cut off power to the lamp when needed while maintaining the communication network functional for other applications.
Motion detection
The controller has three infrared detection cells covering an almost circular area around the luminaire up to a distance of 10 to 12 meters. The detection can be configured to, for example, specify which neighboring luminaires should also react to detection of this luminaire.

The NovaLight OLC Pole Detect is a luminaire controller with a magnetic attachment for steel poles or a ligature attachment for non-steel poles. It comprises three infrared motion detection cells covering an almost circular area with a radius of 10 to 12 meters around the controller. You can dim the street lighting at very low intensity when no movement is detected on the roads, thus achieving significant energy savings. These savings can be measured using the integrated energy meter. In addition, lighting faults are automatically detected and sent to centralized remote management software via a wireless network.
Product features
The controller is made of anti-UV PC / ASA plastic and grade V0. The box comprises four magnets that magnetically attach the device to the zinc-plated / galvanized steel poles with a force of several kilograms. A ligature slot with a maximum width of 8mm can be used if necessary. In that case, we recommend using stainless steel ligatures. In addition, an additional option is possible for mounting on large diameter masts (to be specified when ordering). You need a 10mm hole in the mast to install this product.

This product is available in different variations. Two colors are available: steel gray (RAL7040) or anthracite gray (RAL7015). Those colors correspond very well to Akzo 900 powder-coated poles. Masts with a diameter greater than 100mm can work with the magnetic attachment is made of steel. If necessary, an option allows binding by ligature on those types of masts. You can choose your control mode depending on the possibilities of the streetlight ballasts, either 1-10V or DALI (to be preferred if possible).

The installation of this mast controller is straightforward. All you must do is drill the mast with a 10mm bit, deburr the hole and then pass the factory pre-assembled cable. The attachment is either magnetic for compatible masts or a stainless-steel ligature not supplied. The cable contains five wires (input phase, neutral, output phase, and, depending on the model: DALI + / DALI- or GND / 1-10V). You can connect the cable in the mast hatch, where the controller must bypass the power to the streetlight to perform energy measurements and power control.
You must register the NovaLight OLC Pole Detect in the remote management software to be operational. To do this, we recommend that you use the NovaLight mobile application. Thanks to this mobile application, you can select/create a light point, scan the product barcode required for registration, and enter the OLC details. Suppose the controller is referenced in the software on the light point; as soon as the NovaLight Gateway router is powered, the NovaLight OLC Pole Detect can connect to the remote management software to receive its configuration.
Yes, but only with the electrical phase-in on/off mode control. It will make it possible to measure the energy consumption of the light point, to manage its switching on / off, but will not allow light dimming. It is also necessary to verify that the streetlight meets the electrical limits of the controller.
The ideal approach is to verify correct operation through the remote management platform, either through the web interface or mobile application. You can make instant manual checks when the streetlight and the network are switched on. By changing the light intensity and checking the energy data, you can check that the dimming is working correctly. On-site and during the day, the controller will switch on the streetlight. However, this will depend on the configuration of the setback schedule. For example, the program can activate the astronomical clock function, which will switch off the lights.
The controller can perform diagnostics for up to 12 different luminaires on the DALI bus. In terms of intensity control, the controller will only transmit general commands that will impact all lights uniformly, whether in DALI or 1-10V.
Yes. The NovaLight OLC Pole Detect can be part of a volumetric dimming strategy. You can also mix the scheduled and dynamic profiles according to the hours of the night.
Yes, by the way, that is the default behavior. The remote management software can then achieve the configuration.
No, the detection cells all work at the same time. The OLC Pole Detect cannot ignore detection incoming from any infrared sensor.
